The age in which an incomprehensible amount of funding goes into the overuse of restroom materials is over. Many are aware of the new toilet, urinal, faucet, dryer, and towel dispensing machinery available to the public this very day. Some might question the purpose of these machines besides revolutionizing the design and "futurism" of the bathroom. However, there is more to these high-tech contraptions than meets the eye. And their tricks don't involve turning into robots.
Certain companies have introduced a miniature jet-engine usable as an alternative to standard hand dryers. Boasting a seemingly uncontrollable air-blowing speed upwards of 50 meters per second, coupled with motion-sensing activation and a sleek design that, even idle, looks like it's breaking the sound barrier, these hand dryers are not here to mess around. All this, and even still claiming to save the environment a couple paper towels at a time. With statements such as these, jet dryers undoubtedly draw in every bathroom-using stereotype. From star-trek nerds looking for a little excitement to red-neck adrenaline junkies, and even including the bleeding-heart, tree-hugging liberals in-between, I'd like to meet someone who wouldn't want to stick their hand under such a beast.
Despite boasting rights, why would a company want to buy such a monstrous bathroom utility? It may be true that state-of-the-art equipment is always desired, but why should any company invest in such contraptions as this? The answer, of course, is not only to save the environment, but also because it is an economic way of drying hands. Primarily, these jet dryers typically dry a hand in or faster than the amount of time it takes to dry one's hand with paper towels. In addition to this, the motion-sensor on the dryer shuts off when the user has finished, and thus saves energy. Finally, the air-dryer doesn't use any paper towels or outside resources besides the air itself. This means that no paper towel purchases are required for replacement, and there is also significantly less waste created by the paper towel, thus saving on garbage bags and janitorial costs as well.
At this point, any full-minded person might be thinking of a catch. And, unfortunately, there is indeed a small catch. Most of these dryers are quite loud. In fact, oftentimes it sounds like a full-sized jet engine is firing up in the office restroom when my co-workers wave a hand in front of it. Although this may usually be drowned out by typical office noises and disrupts, it must be noted that these alien-esque pieces of technology make sure everyone in the office knows its power every time it is used.
All in all, however, investing in this type of jet-engine hand dryer is most definitely within the interests of any typical company wishing to save money. When it comes down to it, it's as simple as that. Considering dry-time, expenses, conservation of environmental products, and conservation of electricity, the adoption of any one of these evolved jet dryers would greatly benefit any company with the only real expenses of noise. And, if used in a restroom within an office building with considerable girth, it is unlikely that the entire office will actually bear witness to its raw power.
