Should I use Raggedy Ann & Andy crib set for a boy?
I have a complete raggedy ann & andy crib set I bought on sale 4 years ago. I've had it in the back of my closet, never opened in a rubber maid container.
I'm 18 weeks and have been looking for a boy theme (I just have a feeling) and a new set would cost $100-200 easy. I really don't want to spend a bunch of money of a theme that won't be used for very long.
Should I go ahead and use it? Maybe add a lot of blue & cream colors in the room to downplay the rose color?

I think it would be perfectly fine to use it for a boy. My entire home is decorated in Americana/Primitive Decor and I was looking for something to fit in for the nursery. I've decided I'm doing Raggedy Ann and Andy whether it is a boy or a girl. It's such a cute theme and can go either way. I wouldn't worry about the rose hearts too much. There is a lot of blue in there for a boy. You can always paint the room blue to make it more masculine. I found some red white and blue vertically stripped wall paper and am using it on the bottom of the room, putting RA & A border around the middle of the room and painting the top half a creme color. I'll include the links to the wallpaper and border so you can see what I'm talking about. It would look very nice for a boy. In fact, I'm hoping for a boy because I don't think it would suit a girl very well at all. Good luck and congrats on the baby!

You know, some days just plain stink. It was 110 in the shade. The pool turned green; the spa was hot. Along with the solar flares, came the flaring tempers! Hot, hot, hot! My beautiful daughters and their kids were visiting (with 3 dogs!) on this very hot day. You get the idea; it was an Arizona Summer day!
Everyone (and their dog) seemed to be GROUCHY and OMG...grumpy, grumpier, grumpiest! Kids running around the house, playing, screaming and squealing. Dogs barking and chasing them. Frazzled nerves.
Eventually, some not so nice words spewed out. There was no naughty or nice, just naughty. Good thing it was summer, because Santa wouldn't have visited. Well, what do you do...what will you do?
Growing up and learning from life's challenges, has changed my attitudes about life. My husband's accident and resulting disability certainly has put a spin on the way I view life. Life is much too short and precious to live in anger or resentment. Period.
I don't believe in allowing oneself to be abused, nor do I believe in letting someone else's anger and words control my life or how I feel inside. Anger, hurt and resentment will not control me. I will control them. How? Here we are, arriving at the place where we have control of our own lives: Choices and Decisions.
Andy Andrew's The Traveler's Gift, deals with 7 decisions you can make for your life. One decision states:
" I have a decided heart. I will awaken every morning with an excitement about the new day... By the act of forgiving, I am no longer consumed by unproductive thoughts...The Compassionate Decision: I will greet this day with a forgiving spirit. "
This is the choice I make every morning. I choose not to react or respond in the same likeness as angry or ugly people. I'm not speaking particularly of my family, but anyone who has not learned to play nicely.
I choose to ignore rude people. I choose to walk away if I cannot talk it out; I wait until tempers subside. I choose to be kind; whether the other person is or is not. I choose. I am in control of my being. I choose to greet each morning with a fresh and positive outlook.
Ann Frank wrote: "Our very lives are fashioned by choice. First we make choices. Then our choices make us." The truth of the matter is, I feel ugly inside when I become angry. I do not like myself when I have hate in my heart because of the anger I feel. I choose not to become an angry person. I choose not to be ugly inside. I choose to forgive and start each day fresh.
So, where's the lemonade, you say? How do you turn a bad day around and make sweet, sweet lemonade?
I drained the spa, put in cool water, and the kids went swimming in it. The kids were happy, their moms were happy, I was happy.
The guys grilled some killer ribs and fed them to all the grumpy bears, who then became less grumpy. Food, isn't it great!
For dessert, the choice was carrot cake, or apple pie...with ice cream...choices, choices, choices! No choices needed here. I had some of each. And tomorrow...well, it's another day!
